Tired.

Hey everyone,

I made it back from Paris okay. It was very tiring especially since we had a party the night before we left for a Swiss and French girl who were done with their sememster and were going back home. It was about a three hour train ride there and we found our hotel just fine. We went to Notre Dame (it's like most of the cathedrals in France, nothing too special), Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart), which was a neat church high on a hill, the Arc de Triomph, Eiffel Tower (we took the stairs to the second level and then you had to take an elevator all the way to the top), Pere Lachaise which is a cemetery with a lot of famous people like Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison, La Defense which is the business district right outside of Paris. They had some tall and interesting looking buildings. It was kind of weird because we went on a Saturday and there were hardly any people around compared to NYC where there are always people everywhere. On Sunday, we went to the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo and then we waited for our train in a cafe at the train station and birds would fly around inside and would come by and take your food if you weren't paying attention. I don't think I got any diseases from it though. All in all it was a pretty good trip.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you when I get back. Talk to you later.

Zach

  1. Great! Sounds like you had an excellent weekend. I was hoping you would get to see Napoleon's huge coffin (actually 7 coffins, one inside another) and museum, but perhaps for another weekend if you make it up there again. Did you get to see the Tower at night when they light it up? Sacred Heart was very cool when I went too. I remember a ton of stairs we had to climb to get to the top. It is beautiful when it is lit up at night as well. Did they have the ferris wheel out and running by the Louvre? I'm so glad you are getting to experience all the wonderful things on your trip. Is the food any better or any worse for you? And let me know how those potatoes are cooked and put on the pizza. =)

  2. So glad you got to see and do so much. How many of you went? Did you see any other American tourists? Guess the French Health Department doesn't worry too much about uncaged birds in food establishments:) The birds should probably be the ones worried about catching communicable diseases! In my whole life the only train I have ridden on is the steam engine pulled train that goes from Anonito to Chama. I am glad you are getting to experience so many different things at your young age. I'm sure living in another country, even for a short time gives you a perspective of your home country, you would not have had otherwise. Getting to know young folks from several different countries is something be cherished too. Love you, Mom

  3. I guess you did't find the "Highlanders" barge (smile). I hope those birds didn't put extra flavoring in you food Ha Ha. I am glad you had a fun and interesting trip. It looks like you have 3 weekends left, ENJOY.
